Min/Max House:

Who's Next Competition

Honorable Mention, March 2010

This is my entry into the Who's Next competition hosted by Free Green. The goal of the competition is to promote green and sustainable ideas through a residential housing competition. The competition is open to public voting which will choose 3 houses that will be further developed and sold through Free Green's website.

The Min/Max House was developed to address several important sustainable characteristics that are at odds with the typical suburban development. In doing so, it attempts to minimize or maximize these characteristics for optimal effect. Most importantly, the Min/Max House addresses the contradictions associated with a siteless sustainable house. The lack of known siting prompts a design that is adaptable to a variety of sites and solar orientations. The Min/Max House meets these needs by minimizing solar exposure in all orientations, while maximizing views out.
